TOWN OF OGEMA’S COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE RECEIVES $1,000 PLUM CREEK FOUNDATION GRANT FOR PIONEER PARK PAVILION

TOMAHAWK, Wis.--October 12, 2009--The Plum Creek Foundation recently awarded $1,000 to the Community Development Committee of the Town of Ogema to help fund the construction of a community pavilion in Pioneer Park.

The town uses the park for a variety of local events, including annual horse and ATV pulls, fast pitch softball tournaments, July 4th fireworks and the Christmas Tree Festival.  In the past, the committee has rented tents to serve food and provide shelter for these events.  The donation will help fund the construction of a large pavilion for town events, family gatherings and more.

“We are delighted to have the Plum Creek Foundation’s support as we work to build the Pioneer Park pavilion,” said Sharon Hause, president of the Community Development Committee.  “It is our goal to encourage community participation in an area that includes a convenient shelter, and we look forward to offering this space to our neighbors.”

The mission of the Community Development Committee is to provide the families of Ogema, Spirit and Hill a safe and attractive park that enhances the community, helps build healthy lifestyles and provides a quality facility using the town’s natural assets.  Construction is scheduled to be completed later this month.

The mission of the Plum Creek Foundation is to provide philanthropic contributions to support and improve the general welfare of life in the communities that Plum Creek serves.  The Foundation board meets quarterly to review applications submitted from organizations in the company’s operating communities.  Visit the Community Involvement page on Plum Creek’s Web site at www.plumcreek.com to download an application.
