TOWN OF SPIRIT RECEIVES $5,148 PLUM CREEK FOUNDATION GRANT
HAYWARD, Wis.--Nov. 4, 2008--The Plum Creek Foundation recently awarded a $5,148 grant to the Town of Spirit to help build a new playground at the revitalized Spirit Memorial Park.
The Spirit Memorial Park Playground, which serves Lincoln, Price and Taylor counties, is undergoing a development and revitalization to help provide a family-friendly, community-focused recreational area to local residents and visitors. The Plum Creek grant will help provide a classic and durable playground system for the park. Spirit Memorial Park includes a near life-size replica of the fieldstone, double-arched bridge that once spanned the north fork of the Spirit River. Additionally, the park has been enhanced with adjacent hiking trails, picnic areas, handicap accessible restrooms and native plant gardens designed by a local master gardener.
“This playground system will help create a fun destination within Spirit Memorial Park for the whole family,” said Darrell Lind, Town of Spirit Chairman. “We are grateful to the Plum Creek Foundation for its support and generous gift, and look forward to installing the new equipment and further enhancing the park.”
The mission of the Plum Creek Foundation is to provide philanthropic contributions to support and improve the general welfare of life in the communities that Plum Creek serves. The Foundation board meets quarterly to review applications submitted from organizations in the company’s operating communities.
