VENTURES UNLIMITED, INC. RECEIVES $1,500 PLUM CREEK FOUNDATION GRANT

HAYWARD, Wis.--Oct. 21, 2008--The Plum Creek Foundation recently awarded a $1,500 grant to Ventures Unlimited, Inc. to help fund equipment upgrades and safety improvements for the organization’s staff.  

Ventures Unlimited employs people with disabilities at their work center in Hayward, Wis., and contracts seasonal projects, such as snow removal, leaf raking and lawn moving to workers with disabilities.  The grant will help update lawn care equipment and purchase a lawn service trailer to ensure the safety of the mowing crew and improve the efficiency of the contracted jobs.  The grant will also be used to help purchase a power lift to transfer employees confined to wheelchairs.  Ventures Unlimited also runs the “Ventures” Thrift Store, which will be moved to downtown Hayward in May 2008.  The organization will also purchase store signs announcing the move and shelves to fill the expanded space.
