Thomas G. Ray
Vice President, Northwest Resources and Manufacturing


Tom Ray is Vice President, Northwest Resources and Manufacturing. He oversees Plum Creek’s manufacturing operations and manages all of the company’s timberland resources in the northwest. Ray has also served as Vice President, Montana Operations and General Manager, Northwest Region, managing the company’s 1.8 million acres of timberlands in Montana, Washington and Oregon.

Ray began his career in the forestry industry in 1981, serving in various positions with state and forest products companies before joining Georgia-Pacific in 1984. While at Georgia-Pacific, he managed timberlands in Oregon, Washington and California for its timber division at the time, The Timber Company. In 2001 The Timber Company merged with Plum Creek, and he joined its management team.

Ray holds a Bachelor of Science degree in forest engineering from Oregon State University.

He serves on the board of directors for the Montana Wood Products Association and the Western Environmental Trade Association, and has served in officer positions with the Northern California Log Scaling Bureau, California Forestry Association and the California Fish, Forest & Farms Coalition.
