ConservationAs a large landowner, Plum Creek recognizes that some of our lands have "special" values to the people who live in communities that surround them. With this in mind, Plum Creek continues to seek opportunities to protect land that has visual, historic, recreation, forestry, wildlife habitat and other significant attributes through long-term conservation sales, easements and land exchanges. Plum Creek is committed to land conservation and is proud of our history of partnerships that have resulted in the preservation of more than 540,000 acres across the United States. Since the company was founded in 1989, Plum Creek has joined organizations such as The Nature Conservancy, the Trust for Public Land, and other organizations, to complete nearly 200 conservation transactions in ten states, including sales, conservation easements and land exchanges. In addition, Plum Creek foresters manage thousands of acres of conservation property that the company has acquired through previous transactions. In addition, nearly 2 million acres of Plum Creek lands are involved in Habitat Conservation Plans (HCPs) and conservation agreements that provide for the long-term management and protection of endangered wildlife across the country.
