Plum Creek Maine

Plum Creek began doing business in Maine in 1998, and sustainably manages approximately 878,000 acres of land in the state. Today, the company is one of the largest private landowners in the state.

Plum Creek is a land and timber company whose core business is timber management. The company also manages some of its land for conservation, recreation, natural resources, economic development and community development.

In 2012, Plum Creek placed 361,000 acres under a permanent conservation easement as part of its approved Moosehead Lake Region Concept Plan. The Plan incorporates significant input from stakeholders throughout Maine.  It allows for the effective combination of large-scale conservation (covering 96 percent of the Plan area), economic development, working forests, recreational opportunities and sound regional planning.

The company is committed to sustainable forestry and environmental responsibility and works in partnership with local and state governments to ensure it meets or exceeds all forestry rules, regulations and environmental laws.

In Maine alone, the company directly employs more than 40 people, partners with more than 70 contractors, and works with more than 50 customers throughout the state.

Plum Creek's customers in Maine manufacture a variety of wood, pulp and paper products and generate power from biomass. In addition, several of our customers make some unique products, including sticks for ice cream novelty treats, medical supplies, golf tees, and more.

The vast majority of Plum Creek's Maine land is publicly accessible for hunting, fishing, hiking, snowmobiling and more.

The company has offices in Fairfield, Greenville, Bingham, and West Forks.
